Research Associate – ChemistryJoin to apply for the Research Associate – Chemistry role at UNSW.
Location: Sydney, Australia. Position: Postdoctoral Research Associate (Level A) in the School of Chemistry—part of the Smart Materials and Surfaces research group.
About the RoleSalary: AU$113,000–121,000 plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading.
Fixed term – 12 months. Full‐time 35 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Conduct research in electrochemistry and electrocatalysis.
Perform and supervise experiments in electrochemical evaluation of catalytic materials.
Write and maintain laboratory notebooks detailing all experiments conducted.
Successfully complete experiments and provide on‐time analysis of results.
Analyse data and write results for publication in peer‐reviewed journals.
Contribute to scientific papers and reports for international journals and progress reporting to collaborators and industry partners.
Prepare research proposal submissions to funding bodies and actively seek industry collaboration.
Assist with coordination of research activities and meet project milestones.
Present results at national and international conferences.
Align with and demonstrate the Code of Conduct and Values.
Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take reasonable care to ensure actions do not impact health and safety of self or others.
Selection Criteria
A PhD specializing in electrochemistry.
Demonstrated ability to develop electrochemical procedures for materials characterization.
Extensive experience in performing electrochemical measurements.
Demonstrated experience in materials synthesis.
Previous experience in a research environment and in training PhD and Honours students.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships.
Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
An understanding of and commitment to UNSW\’s aims, objectives, and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
