Position Summary

Post Doctoral Fellow – Full-time (35 hours a week) – 2 year fixed term contract. Base remuneration of $127,947 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading. Location: Hybrid (three days a week in office at Kensington, Sydney). Visa sponsorship is not available; candidates must have full rights to work in Australia.

Details of the Role

The Post Doctoral Fellow will conduct independent research on modelling the health impact of vaccine strategies for endemic respiratory pathogens. The work will involve developing and applying sophisticated mathematical, statistical, and computational models to inform vaccination strategies, including modelling immunity at multiple scales, age‑ and risk‑group targeting, and combination vaccine schedules. You will contribute to high‑quality scientific outputs, collaborate with national and international partners, support competitive grant development, and progressively establish an independent research profile within the Infectious Disease Dynamics and Interventions group.

Key Skills and Experience

  • PhD in a highly quantitative discipline with advanced skills in mathematics, statistics, and computational methods.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in population health and observational science.
  • Ability to conduct research under limited supervision within the group’s strategic priorities.
  • Track record of first‑author peer‑reviewed publications and conference presentations.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines.
  • Experience working within national research consortia such as the Australia‑Aotearoa Consortium for Epidemic Forecasting and Analytics (ACEFA) is desirable.
  • Capacity to develop independent research proposals and build a personal research portfolio.
  • Team‑working ability and relationship‑building across interdisciplinary teams.
