Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Electrical Engineering (Education Focused) in North East

This position is based in Australia. Join the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications in the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in an Education Focused role. As a Lecturer, you will contribute to high-quality teaching and learning across Electrical Engineering through the design and delivery of engaging undergraduate and postgraduate courses, learning activities, assessment and feedback. You will support student learning and progression, contribute to curriculum development, and help create an outstanding student experience through innovative and inclusive teaching practices.

As a Senior Lecturer, you will build on this by taking a leadership role in teaching and learning, including leading curriculum development and improvement, mentoring colleagues, contributing to educational leadership within the School, and helping to shape the future direction of learning and teaching in Electrical Engineering. You will also play a key role in strengthening links with industry and the profession, and contributing to broader educational excellence across the university.

Position Details

• Salary: Lecturer (Level B) – AUD $133,065 to $156,864 per annum + 17% superannuation
• Senior Lecturer (Level C) – AUD $161,619 to $185,422 per annum + 17% superannuation
• Employment type: Full-time
• Appointment type: Fixed term, 2-year convertible tenure track
• Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia
• Reporting line: This role reports to the Head of School and has no direct reports.

You are an academic with expertise in electrical/electronics engineering or a closely related field, with the ability to contribute to high-quality teaching and learning across undergraduate and postgraduate Electrical Engineering programs. You are committed to advancing your discipline knowledge while delivering engaging learning experiences through well-designed teaching, assessment and feedback, curriculum development and the use of educational technologies. You will bring demonstrated experience in teaching, learning design and supporting students from diverse backgrounds, along with a strong commitment to student success and positive learning outcomes.

Success in this role requires a collaborative and adaptable approach, with the ability to work across disciplines, build relationships with industry and professional networks, and contribute to the School’s educational excellence. At Senior Lecturer level, you will also bring evidence of leadership in teaching and learning, a strong and growing record of curriculum development and improvement, experience mentoring colleagues, and the ability to contribute to broader educational leadership within the School and Faculty.

Skills And Experience

• Level B: PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, along with relevant work experience
• Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and professional development
• Demonstrated experience and evidence in teaching, assessment and learning design, development and/or delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level in the areas of electrical engineering.
• Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence
• Demonstrated knowledge of industry or experience of work-integrated learning (desirable)
• Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills
• Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives
• An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines
• Knowledge of health & safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training

• Level C: PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, along with relevant work experience

• Demonstrated experience in teaching, assessment and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level in the areas of electrical engineering
• Experience of implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others
• Demonstrated experience with industry or work-integrated learning
• Evidence of professional development of teaching practice in self and others with the ability to advance and lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching
• Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement
• Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills
• Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity diversity and inclusion initiatives
• Demonstrated ability to interact with the profession and industry and attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives
• An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines
• Knowledge of health & safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
