This role is based in Australia and offers an opportunity for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to join a teaching and research team at the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications in the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW. The position will contribute to enhancing the School’s capabilities in digital electronics, FPGA design, and embedded systems, while supporting research advances across telecommunications, control systems, signal processing, energy systems, and other emerging areas of electrical engineering.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
  • Undertaking research and scholarly activities that strengthen the School’s profile.
  • Contributing to high-impact outcomes in digital electronics systems.
  • Engaging with industry and shaping future directions in digital electronics, FPGA design, and embedded systems.

Position Details:

  • Salary: Lecturer (Level B) – AUD $133,065 to $156,864 per annum + 17% superannuation; Senior Lecturer (Level C) – AUD $161,619 to $185,422 per annum + 17% superannuation.
  • Employment type: Full-time.
  • Appointment type: Fixed term, 2-year convertible tenure track.
  • Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia.
  • Reporting line: This role reports to the Head of School and has no direct reports.

About You:

You are an academic with expertise in electrical/electronics engineering or a closely related field, committed to advancing your discipline knowledge while delivering engaging learning experiences. You will have demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, curriculum development, and the use of educational technologies. Success in this role requires a collaborative and adaptable approach, with the ability to work across disciplines and build relationships with industry.

At Senior Lecturer level, you will also bring evidence of research leadership, a strong research track record, success in attracting competitive funding, and experience supervising HDR students to completion.

Skills and Experience:

  • A PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related discipline, along with relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development, and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence.
  • High-level communication skills and ability to network effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and collaborate across disciplines.
