Employment Type: Full Time, 35 hours per week

Duration: Fixed Term Until 30 Nov 2027 with a possibility of extension

Remuneration: $91,381- $121,838 based on experience + 17% Super + Annual Leave Loading

Location: Kensington Campus, New South Wales. This role is primarily based on-site. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold unrestricted work rights to be considered for this position. This Job is based in Australia.

Position Summary

The Post-Doctoral Fellow (Level A) will contribute to the research activities of UNSW by developing their expertise through defined projects in neuroimmunology. Working collaboratively with national and international researchers, the Fellow will support an ongoing research program focused on understanding the mechanisms of chronic pain and advancing T cell-based immunotherapeutic approaches. The role involves designing and conducting experiments, analysing complex datasets, and contributing to high-quality research outputs, including peer-reviewed publications and presentations. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will also support laboratory operations and assist in the supervision of research students, while ensuring compliance with ethical and safety standards. This position reports to the Associate Professor and does not have direct reports.

Skills & Experience

  • A PhD in biomedical sciences, neuroscience, immunology or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high-quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in animal experimental work and behavioural assays.
  • Familiarity with, or willingness to develop expertise in, immunological techniques, transcriptomics, microscopy, image analysis, and primary cell culture is desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with relevant computing and data analysis skills.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team and across disciplines, with strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
