This job is based in Australia. It is a full-time, fixed-term, 12-month post-doctoral fellow position in the School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering (SPREE) at UNSW located in Sydney, NSW.
Opportunity
SPREE is seeking two Post-Doctoral Fellows to contribute to research and development of advanced photovoltaic technologies, focusing on silicon solar cell and module fabrication, metallisation, interconnection, characterisation, and related manufacturing processes. The Fellows will engage in process development, device analysis, simulation and modelling, and technoeconomic assessment of emerging photovoltaic technologies. The Fellows report to Dr. Catherine Chan and have no direct reports.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Research and develop advanced photovoltaic technologies with a focus on silicon solar cell and module fabrication.
- Conduct process development, device analysis, simulation and modelling, and technoeconomic assessment of emerging photovoltaic technologies.
- Engage in domestic and international travel for research collaboration, industry engagement, and experimental activities.
Additional responsibilities for Level B fellows:
- Lead research activities, contribute to collaborative research programmes, competitive funding applications, industry engagement, and technology translation activities;
- Supervise and mentor students or junior researchers.
Qualifications
Level A: PhD in a related discipline; demonstrated research experience in silicon photovoltaics; experience in silicon solar cell fabrication, metallisation or device characterisation; ability to analyse and interpret experimental and/or simulation data; commitment to staying updated in the field; ability to conduct high-quality independent research; publication and conference presentation track record; collaborative and interpersonal skills; communication with diverse stakeholders; willingness to travel.
Level B (additional to Level A qualifications): Demonstrated research experience beyond PhD training in a photovoltaic technology; independent leadership of research activities; experience with collaborative research programmes, competitive funding, industry engagement or technology translation; supervisory experience; high-quality research output; significant involvement with the profession or industry.
Salary and Benefits
Level A – AUD$113,911 to $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation. Level B – AUD$127,947 to $150,830 per annum + 17% superannuation. Full-time, 35 hours per week. Location: Kensington, Sydney, Australia (on campus requirement).
