Join the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in a Teaching and Research role. As a Lecturer (Level B), you will develop your scholarly research and professional activities both nationally and internationally, while contributing to the teaching and service missions of the School and Faculty. As a Senior Lecturer (Level C), you will additionally establish an internationally recognised research program in your field and play a key role in maintaining and strengthening industry partnerships, fostering collaborations that drive impactful research and innovative advancements in thermo‐mechanical engineering.

We are seeking a candidate with a proven research background and strong educational experience in advanced manufacturing engineering. You will have experimental expertise in advanced composite materials and structures and/or in additive manufacturing of metals and polymers. The role may focus on, but is not limited to, modern manufacturing processes for advanced composites and metals, nano‐ and micro‐fabrication, smart design for manufacturing, sustainable and green manufacturing, and robotic manufacturing. This role reports to the Head of School and has no direct reports.

Skills & Experience

  • Lecturer (Level B)
  • PhD in an area of direct relevance, including but not limited to Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace, and Robotics Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability and track record in modern manufacturing processes, including but not limited to advanced metals and composites, nano‐ and micro‐fabrication, smart design for manufacturing, microelectronic systems, and robotic manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in translating research results into practical outcomes.
  • Demonstrated capacity for development of alternative delivery models for teaching, including online and blended delivery.
  • High level communication skills and ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Willingness to undertake any compliance and supervisor training as required.
  • Ability and capacity to implement required UNSW health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Senior Lecturer (Level C)
    • PhD in an area of direct relevance, including but not limited to Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace, and Robotics Engineering.
    • Demonstrated ability and track record in modern manufacturing technologies, including but not limited to advanced metals and composites, nano‐and micro‐fabrication, smart design for manufacturing, micro‐electronic systems, and robotic manufacturing.
    • Extensive experience in translating research results into practical outcomes.
    • Demonstrated success in attracting research funding from governmental and/or industrial sectors.
    • Demonstrated capacity for development of alternative delivery models for teaching, including online and blended delivery.
    • Excellent level communication skills and ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
    • Demonstrated experience in supervising research students.
    • Willingness to undertake any compliance and supervisor training as required.
    • Ability and capacity to implement required UNSW health and safety policies and procedures.
    • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
    • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
