The School of Biomedical Sciences

Details of the role
A Senior Lecturer (Level C) will conduct high quality research and make a significant contribution to educational excellence in the School of Biomedical Sciences and Faculty of Medicine and Health. This role offers the opportunity to shape and advance immunology research and education within a leading academic environment. You will drive an independent, high-impact research program, build national research recognition, and contribute meaningfully to the supervision and development of higher degree research students. Alongside research leadership, you will play a key role in delivering inspiring, evidence-based teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with a focus on immunology in the context of infection and disease. Working collaboratively across disciplines, you will help strengthen research networks, attract competitive funding, and contribute to innovative curriculum design that enhances student learning, employability, and academic excellence. The role of Senior Lecturer reports to Head of Department (nominally Pathology) and has no direct reports.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- A PhD in Immunology or related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with knowledge and developments in immunology, infection and/or disease models or closely allied subjects.
- Obtain research income from nationally competitive research grants (and/or research fellowships) and research end-users as a member or leader, at or above the level that is relevant to the discipline in leading universities.
- Experience in successfully recruiting and supervising high calibre higher degree research students.
- Apply a well-defined teaching philosophy and a critically reflective teaching practice that inspires student learning in or allied to the subject area of immunology with an infection or disease focus.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
