The Physiotherapy Clinical Education Lead will play a key role within the School of Health Sciences, Discipline of Physiotherapy, and is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of clinical placement programs in physiotherapy for our students enrolled in the Bachelor of Exercise Science (Master of Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology). This position ensures the delivery of high-quality clinical education experiences through strong collaboration with academic staff, clinical partners, and placement providers. The role also supports curriculum development related to clinical education and contributes to quality assurance, compliance, and continuous improvement of clinical placement activities to enhance student learning outcomes and professional readiness. This role reports to the Discipline Lead, Physiotherapy and has no direct reports.
Skills Required
- At Lecturer (Level B):
- Registration with AHPRA as a physiotherapist in Australia.
- A PhD in Physiotherapy or related disciplines or significant clinical education experience.
- Demonstrated experience with industry and work-integrated learning and clinical education.
- Proven commitment to proactive maintenance of discipline knowledge and development.
- Experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery of courses (subjects) and programs (degrees), at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, specifically related to clinical education and WIL.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
- A PhD in Physiotherapy or related disciplines (preferred at Level C) or significant and relevant clinical education experience may be considered in lieu of PhD.
- Significant experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, specifically in clinical education/WIL.
- Evidence of professional development in teaching and a strong track record of teaching excellence.
- Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
- Demonstrated track record in research (may be in scholarship of learning and teaching) with outcomes of high quality and high impact to improve education and or health outcomes.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
