Lecturer, Rural (EF) at UNSW – Rural campus in Wagga Wagga, NSW.

UNSW Rural brings world-class medical education to rural and regional Australia, delivering the full 6-year medical course at rural campuses. Face-to-face teaching is critical to rural program delivery, and the program supports Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) in Australia. This role is Education Focused (EF) and dedicated to high-quality teaching and educational initiatives within the university’s teaching and learning communities.

  • Employment Type: Part-time (7 hours a week)
  • Duration: Fixed Term contract until 30 June 2026
  • Remuneration: $127,947 base pro-rata, plus 17% superannuation, leave loading and clinical loading (as appropriate)
  • Work rights: Visa sponsorship is not available; candidates must have full rights to work in Australia
  • Location: Wagga Wagga, NSW

Role Focus

The Lecturer, Rural will be committed to high-quality teaching with a demonstrated interest in local rural medical education and a focus on the Application of Basic Sciences for Clinical Competency and/or Patient-Centered Interdisciplinary Healthcare practices.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials and small group teaching for the relevant phase of the undergraduate program
  • Engage in face-to-face teaching and supervision of undergraduate students
  • Support the recruitment of rural students, including participation in interview training and entry interviews
  • Drive educational excellence within the university’s teaching and learning communities

Qualifications

  • BMedMD, MBBS (or equivalent), and Fellowship of a Specialist Medical College; eligible for medical registration in New South Wales
  • Proven experience in practical face-to-face teaching and supervision at undergraduate level, with a commitment to rural medical and health education
  • Well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning and immersion
