- Remuneration: base salary $127,947 pro-rata, plus 17% superannuation, leave loading and clinical loading

Role Context
UNSW Rural brings world-class medical education to rural and regional Australia, delivering the full 6-year medical course at rural campuses. Face-to-face teaching is critical to rural program delivery. The Education Focused (EF) role enables academics to specialise in education and deliver high-quality teaching while pursuing initiatives to enhance the educational experience across teaching and learning communities.
Responsibilities
The Lecturer, Rural is committed to high-quality teaching with a focus on local rural medical education, health issues, and related projects. The role contributes to the undergraduate medical education program with emphasis on applying Basic Sciences in Clinical Medicine and Multidisciplinary Care and Clinical Skills Techniques to deliver comprehensive patient care in multidisciplinary environments. The position reports to the Director of Medical Education at the campus and has no direct reports.
Key activities include:
- Prepare and deliver rurally focused content in lectures, tutorials and small group teaching; assess learning achievements and pursue opportunities to innovate in learning activities for basic sciences, clinical coursework, and skills development.
- Support student learning progression in clinical skills techniques; provide guidance on multidisciplinary teams to improve outcomes for patients and health professionals; assess student learning achievements.
- Develop local research initiatives with LHD and primary health care networks; supervise Independent Learning Project (ILP) students where appropriate.
- Collaborate with peers across Rural Clinical Campuses and Faculty to build productive relationships and partnerships.
- Support recruitment of rural students through the Rural Entry Admissions Pathway (REAP) including interview training and participation in rural campus interviews.
- Demonstrate a track record of achievement in practical teaching and supervision at undergraduate level; show commitment to rural medical and health education.
- Demonstrate experience in large and small group teaching and apply teaching methods across online delivery and educational technologies; maintain currency in teaching in health education.
- Communicate effectively; demonstrate strong organisational skills; network with a diverse range of students and staff and work well in a team environment.
