Overview

Lecturer, Rural – Clinical Skills & Simulation (EF) – Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. This is a part-time fixed-term position (3.5 hours per week) until 30 June 2026 with UNSW Rural at Port Macquarie. Employment details include base salary of $127,947 pro-rata, plus 17% superannuation, leave loading and clinical loading. Visa sponsorship is not available; applicants must have full rights to work in Australia.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality rurally focused teaching across lectures, tutorials and small group teaching, with a focus on applying Basic Sciences in Clinical Medicine and Multidisciplinary Care and Clinical Skills Techniques.
  • Assess learning achievements, mark and examine, and innovate in learning activities for basic sciences, clinical coursework and skills development.
  • Support student learning progression in clinical skills techniques; provide guidance on multidisciplinary teams to improve patient and health professional outcomes; assess student learning achievements.
  • Develop and pursue local research initiatives with the LHD and primary health care networks; supervise Independent Learning Project (ILP) students as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with peers across Rural Clinical Campuses and Faculty to build productive relationships and partnerships.
  • Support recruitment of rural students in the Rural Entry Admissions Pathway (REAP), including interview training and participation in interviews at rural campuses.
  • Demonstrate a record of achievement in practical teaching and supervision at undergraduate level with a commitment to rural medical and health education.
  • Demonstrate experience in large and small group teaching and use of educational technologies, including online delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse range of students and staff and work well in a team environment.

Qualifications

  • A BMed/MBBS and a Fellowship of a Specialist Medical College; eligible for medical registration in NSW; or qualification in a relevant health discipline with current AHPRA registration.
  • Evidence of a defined teaching philosophy that supports student learning in a rural context.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver rurally focused content; assess learning outcomes; and pursue innovation in teaching activities.
  • Demonstrated capacity to teach and supervise at undergraduate level and apply teaching methodologies in health education including online delivery.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills; ability to network and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
