Overview
Lecturer, Rural – Clinical Skills & Simulation (EF) – Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. This is a part-time fixed-term role (3.5 hours per week) through 30 June 2026, with remuneration of $127,947 base pro-rata, plus 17% superannuation, leave loading and clinical loading. Visa sponsorship is not available; applicants must hold full rights to work in Australia.
UNSW Rural (Port Macquarie) delivers the 6-year medical course across rural campuses and emphasizes face-to-face teaching to build relationships with clinicians and the local medical community. The Education Focused (EF) role enables academics to specialise in education and pursue initiatives to enhance the educational experience for students.
Responsibilities
- Deliver rurally focused content in lectures, tutorials and small group teaching as appropriate.
- Assess learning achievements, mark examinations, and pursue opportunities to innovate in learning activities for basic sciences, clinical coursework and skills development.
- Support student learning progression in clinical skills techniques and application, and provide guidance on multidisciplinary healthcare teams to improve patient outcomes.
- Develop and pursue local research initiatives with the Local Health District (LHD) and primary health care networks; supervise Independent Learning Project (ILP) students as appropriate.
- Collaborate with peers across Rural Clinical Campuses and Faculty to build productive relationships and partnerships.
- Support the recruitment of rural students in the Rural Entry Admissions Pathway (REAP) including interview training and participation in medicine student entry interviews at rural campuses.
- Demonstrate a record of achievement and effectiveness in practical teaching and supervision at undergraduate level with a commitment to rural medical and health education.
- Utilise online delivery and educational technologies and apply various teaching methodologies across large and small groups.
- Communicate effectively, organise workloads, and engage with a diverse range of students and staff in a team environment.
Qualifications
- A BMedMD, MBBS and a Fellowship of a Specialist Medical College, eligible for medical registration in New South Wales, and/or a qualification in a relevant health discipline with current registration with AHPRA.
- Evidence of a defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning and engagement in the local rural medical environment.
