Why this role matters
A Senior Research Associate (Level B) with mixed‑methods research expertise is expected to carry out independent and/or team research in the field of trauma care, focusing on management of traumatic fractures in resource‑constrained settings. The Senior Research Associate reports to the Professor and has no direct reports.
Key Accountabilities
- Engage in individual and/or collaborative research in a manner consistent with disciplinary practice.
- Create scholarly impact recognised by peers and advance disciplinary knowledge.
- Conduct research under limited supervision, independently or as part of a team.
- Establish a personal research portfolio and develop independent proposals.
- Contribute to competitive funding applications under senior guidance.
- Participate as co‑investigator or chief investigator in grant applications, or show evidence of active participation in funded collaborations.
- Lead qualitative data management for the 5‑country HIPCARE trial under Australian investigators.
- Develop and maintain qualitative data management tools and processes to support regional HIPCARE trial sites.
- Analyse qualitative data, interpret findings, and draft manuscripts with regional HIPCARE collaborators.
- Contribute to research processes, liaise with investigators and analysts, and prepare manuscripts for the Inormus Study.
Key Skills Required
- A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Committed to staying up‑to‑date with disciplinary knowledge and developments.
- Track record in hip fracture care and/or healthy ageing research, particularly in low‑ and middle‑income settings.
- Peer networks in orthopaedic research across the Asia‑Pacific region.
- Expertise in designing, conducting and analysing qualitative research using rigorous, ethical and participatory methods to generate actionable insights for policy and practice.
- Significant involvement with the profession and/or industry.
- High‑level communication skills and the ability to network effectively with students and staff.
- Strong writing, editing and publishing skills in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Teamwork, cross‑disciplinary collaboration and relationship building.
- Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
