Join the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications in the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW. There is an opportunity for a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in a Teaching and Research role. In this role you will develop your own research in the field of Electrical Engineering while teaching undergraduate/postgraduate classes in areas of Systems and Control, including joint courses with other Electrical Engineering disciplines that overlap with Systems and Control. You will have the opportunity to conduct classes, design and develop learning activities, supervise HDR students, and publish high-quality research as part of a team and/or independently.

This role is based in Australia. The role reports to the Head of School and has no direct reports. Responsibilities
  • Contribute to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Systems and Control and related Electrical Engineering disciplines.
  • Develop and deliver learning activities and assessments, including online and on-campus formats.
  • Supervise HDR students and engage in publishable research as part of a team and/or independently.
  • Collaborate across disciplines and engage with industry and the profession where appropriate.
Qualifications

Lecturer (Level B)

  • A PhD in Electrical Engineering specialising in Systems and Control, with relevant work experience.
  • Commitment to staying up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Experience in teaching and learning design, development, and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels in Systems and Control, and across Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and commitment to educational excellence; experience with curriculum design at various levels.
  • Desirable knowledge of industry or work-integrated learning.
  • Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and to advance equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Research track record with high quality outcomes and potential for research leadership.
  • Involvement with the profession and/or industry.
  • Strong communication and networking skills with a diverse range of students and staff.
  • Ability to work in a team and build cross-disciplinary relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to UNSW aims, objectives and policies, including health and safety.

Senior Lecturer (Level C)

  • A PhD in Electrical Engineering specialising in Systems and Control, with relevant work experience.
  • Up-to-date knowledge and experience in teaching and learning design using various pedagogical approaches, including course and program development for undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels in Systems and Control and Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and fostering educational excellence in others.
  • Experience initiating curriculum development and improvement; experience with industry or work-integrated learning.
  • Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and to advance equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Research track record with high quality outcomes and potential for leadership.
  • Experience recruiting and supervising high-calibre students.
  • Ability to work in a team and build cross-disciplinary relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Ability to interact with the profession and industry and attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives.

Salary: Lecturer (Level B) โ€“ AUD $127,947 to $150,830 per annum + 17% super; Senior Lecturer (Level C) โ€“ AUD $155,403 to $178,290 per annum + 17% super

Full time

Fixed term โ€“ 2-year convertible tenure track (potential for transition to continuing appointment, subject to performance)
