Overview

Deputy Dean of Graduate Research (Part-time) – Level C, D or E appointment at UNSW. This role provides strategic leadership on Higher Degree Research (HDR) and supports training and development for HDR candidates and supervisors, plus broader representation and policy governance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership on HDR across UNSW and represent the portfolio nationally and internationally.
  • Develop and deliver training and development programs for HDR candidates and supervisors.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, industry partners and other universities to shape HDR policy and governance.
  • Deputise for the Pro Vice-Chancellor Research Training as required.

  • Part-time (0.6 FTE), 5-year fixed term contract
  • Level C (Senior Lecturer), Level D (Associate Professor), or Level E (Professor) appointment, pro-rata

The Organisation

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor Research Training (PVCRT) portfolio provides leadership, support, and central administration for HDR candidates, supervisors and the research community. UNSW hosts 4,000+ HDR candidates, managed at university level with collaboration across Faculties, Schools and central services. The PVCRT portfolio aims to build research capacity, improve researcher experience, develop researcher capability, and enable external engagement opportunities with industry and global partners.

You are a respected academic with a significant record of research and publication, and experience in HDR landscape and UNSW Sydney’s strategic objectives. Please view the Position Description for specific skills and experience.
