Why this role matters
A Senior Research Associate (Level B) with mixed-methods research expertise is expected to carry out independent and/or team research in the field of trauma care, with a focus on management of traumatic fractures in resource constrained settings. The role of Senior Research Associate reports to the Professor and has no direct reports.
Key Accountabilities Required
- Engage in individual and/or collaborative research in a manner consistent with disciplinary practice.
- Create scholarly impact in the discipline which is recognised by peers in the advancement of disciplinary knowledge.
- Conduct research/scholarly activities under limited supervision, either independently or as a member of a team.
- Establish a personal research portfolio and start developing independent research proposals.
- Contribute to the development of applications for competitive funding under the guidance of senior colleagues.
- Participate as co-investigator or chief investigator in competitive grant applications, or show evidence of active participation in research collaborations funded by competitive grants.
- Lead qualitative data management within the process evaluation of the 5-country HIPCARE trial under the guidance of Australian investigators.
- Develop and maintain qualitative data management tools and processes where necessary, supporting qualitative data management at regional HIPCARE trial sites.
- Analyse qualitative data, interpret findings and draft manuscripts, in collaboration with qualitative researchers at regional HIPCARE trial sites and Australian HIPCARE investigators.
- Contribute to research processes, liaise with study investigators and analysts, and contribute to manuscript preparation the Inormus Study.
Key Skills Required
- A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated track record in research in hip fracture care and/or healthy ageing, particularly in low and middle-income settings.
- Developed peer networks in orthopaedic research in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing, conducting and analysing qualitative research using rigorous, ethical and participatory methods to generate actionable insights for policy and practice.
- A track record of significant involvement with the profession and/or industry.
- High level communication skills and ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff.
- Proven ability to write, edit and publish high-quality scientific manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, demonstrating strong analytical, writing and editorial skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
