Overview
Associate Professor in Cryptography – UNSW School of Computer Science and Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. Location: Kensington, Sydney, Australia. Salary, Level D – AUD $185,917 to $204,218 per annum + 17% superannuation. Full-time, 2-Year Convertible Tenure Track or continuing appointment.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior academic leadership in cryptography and secure computation, contributing to the strategic direction of research and education.
- Drive high-impact research with national and international visibility in areas such as post-quantum cryptography, quantum algorithms, cryptographic primitives and protocols, and secure computation.
- Advance the School’s research profile, industry engagement, and educational excellence; contribute to institutional strategy, governance, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Mentor emerging researchers and supervise higher degree research students to successful completion; contribute to curriculum development and teaching excellence.
- Build partnerships across academia and industry; contribute to governance and program development within the discipline.
Qualifications & Experience
- A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Proven commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, course development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
- Experience implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods; evidence of teaching effectiveness and educational leadership.
- Experience with industry or work-integrated learning; ability to foster inclusive learning environments.
- Strong track record in research leadership with international impact; ability to secure competitive research funding.
- Excellent record of recruiting and supervising high-calibre students; ability to build engagement with the profession and industry.
- Commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives, and values; knowledge of health and safety responsibilities.
