The University of New South Wales (UNSW) is establishing a Discipline of Nursing within the School of Population Health. The first nursing program to be developed is the Graduate Entry Master of Nursing Program, that will commence in 2028.

The Program Lead provides academic, strategic, and operational leadership for nursing programs at UNSW, focusing on high-quality nursing education, strengthening clinical partnerships, and advancing interdisciplinary research and workforce development. The role aligns with national priorities, workforce needs, and UNSW’s Progress for All strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic, strategic, and operational leadership for nursing programs.
  • Drive excellence in research, innovative teaching, and engagement.
  • Develop and enhance high-quality nursing education and strengthen clinical partnerships.
  • Guide interdisciplinary research and workforce development initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment with national priorities and UNSW strategy.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in Nursing or related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • A strong record in research and obtaining external funding.
  • Registered Nurse eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
  • Experience with curriculum accreditation and alignment with NMBA and TEQSA standards is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design across undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and commitment to educational excellence.
  • Experience with industry or work-integrated learning.
  • Commitment to inclusive culture of learning and teaching; ability to lead in this area.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with ability to work across disciplines.
  • Proven leadership of research projects and supervision of honours and postgraduate research.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equal opportunity, equity, diversity and inclusion in staff and student programs.

Remuneration and Conditions

  • Employment Type: Full-time (35 hours per week)
  • Duration: Continuing
  • Remuneration: $185k – $204k base (+17% superannuation, leave loading)
  • Work rights: Visa sponsorship is not available. Candidates must have full rights to work in Australia.
  • Location: Some NSW site travel required (Port Macquarie, Liverpool clinical campuses); flexible working arrangements considered.
