Uno Hotels is a hotel group dedicated to providing exceptional service to ensure every guest enjoys a memorable stay. We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Assistant/Handyman to join our team in maintaining and overseeing the upkeep of our facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and be able to supervise maintenance tasks effectively. This role involves working across two locations, namely Grovefield House Hotel in Taplow and Uno Thames Hotel in Maidenhead. The working schedule may be divided between the two sites, for instance three days at one location and the remaining days at the other.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining all Building Services within the complex in good working order.
  • Assist in the checking and recording of Fire Safety equipment and alarm system, in line with Company policy.
  • Work on a shift Rota System (early or late, if required).
  • Undertake repairs throughout the hotel.
  • Assist in the replacement of equipment.
  • Maintenance works at Staff Areas where applicable.
  • Undertake small plumbing repairs.
  • Undertake replacement of small electrical equipment i.e. bulb replacement, fitting of plug tops, replacement of small accessories in line with H&S guidelines.
  • Report all maintenance issues immediately following the correct procedure.
  • Apply the stock rotation of ‘First in, first out’, therefore reducing wastage.
  • Use cleaning chemicals as directed, to achieve desired results and reduce wastage.
  • Control costs through correct stock ordering and minimising wastage, forecasting and managing workload.
  • Have financial awareness and understanding of how the role impacts the hotel Profit and Loss Account.
  • Ensure security for both self and all departments.
  • Be aware of hotel facilities, restaurant/bar opening times, disabled facilities and room types etc.
  • Know the local area, including local shops and places of interest.
  • Direct guests to the appropriate person if unable to answer queries.
  • Attend all H&S and Fire Trainings as directed by the designated Line Manager.
  • Understand the importance of adhering to the company policy with reference to hazard spotting, first aid reporting, and reporting accidents.
  • Have a complete understanding of hotel and Company procedure in the event of a fire.
  • Attend hotel and departmental induction.
