We would like to contract an experienced stage manager with a strong technical background to join us on our next production FUTURE BODIES – a co-production with HOME made in collaboration with RashDash.

Dates: 3 September – 20 October 2018 (7 weeks continuous)

Fee: £3990

Based in: Manchester

Main responsibilities:

  • Oversee the smooth running of the rehearsal room, working closely with the Director/s to ensure rehearsals run to schedule and with all required resources (props, costumes etc)
  • Create and distribute call sheets
  • Take notes during rehearsals, distributing them to the other departments and creating the book.
  • Work with the Designer and Production Manager to source props, costumes and technical equipment as required including restocking consumables.
  • Liaise with the Production Manager, Producer and creative team (Director, Designer, Sound Designer, Video+Lighting Designer) over the general management and delivery of the production
  • Mentor and line manage the ASM and liaise with venue crew.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager, Designers and in house technical team to oversee the fit up of set and all technical elements of the show
  • Call the show and operate lighting+sound for every performance
  • Write and circulate show reports
  • Ensure the set, costumes and props are maintained during the run.
  • Support the company with other work as can be reasonably required for the smooth running of rehearsals and performances.
  • Create a complete technical rider for the finished show.
  • With the Production Manager: lead the get in and get out at tour venues; drive the van and/or manage transport of set to and from tour venues.
  • Oversee all technical aspects of the fit up at the tour venues including focus of lights+video and installation and level balancing of the sound
  • Act as company manager on tour and report any problems to the Producer.
  • Oversee all returns and/or storage of set, costumes and equipment at the end of the run

Personal specification:

  • Strong experience of stage management in the small and/or mid scale theatre touring sector or similar setting
  • A broad range of technical skills including lighting, sound and show operation
  • Experience operating QLab
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and think on your feet
  • Ability to remain flexible and adjust to an evolving, devised rehearsal process.
  • Full and clean driving license.

We are offering a freelance contract for an assistant stage manager with an interest in developing their technical theatre skills to join us on our next production FUTURE BODIES – a co-production with HOME made in collaboration with RashDash.

Dates: 17 September – 20 October 2018 (5 weeks continuous)

Fee: £2,500

Based in: Manchester

Main responsibilities:

  • Support the Technical Stage Manager to oversee the smooth running of the rehearsal room and production
  • Operate the creative captioning/video for every performance.
  • Support the company with other work as can be reasonably required for the smooth running of rehearsals and performances.
  • Support the TSM with all aspects of the fit up at the tour venues

Personal specification:

  • Some experience of working as technical crew or in stage management
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and think on your feet
  • Ability to remain flexible and adjust to an evolving, devised rehearsal process.
