Unknown Resourcing are recruiting a Deputy Transport Manager / Assistant Transport Manager to support the day-to-day running of a busy transport operation. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced transport professional who can step in for the Transport Manager when required and ensure operations continue safely, legally, and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Support the Transport Manager with daily transport operations
- Schedule drivers and monitor drivers’ hours and compliance
- Act as point of contact for drivers, providing guidance and support
- Ensure all vehicles are maintained, inspected, and roadworthy
- Plan routes and allocate resources efficiently
- Monitor deliveries and resolve operational issues
- Ensure compliance with transport legislation, WTD, and Health & Safety
- Assist with audits, reporting, and KPI monitoring
- Handle customer queries and complaints professionally
Requirements
- Previous experience in transport or logistics, ideally in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of transport compliance and regulations
- Class 2 (Category C) Driving Licence – essential
- Valid Driver CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills
- Confident using IT systems, including Excel and transport software
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Desirable
- Working toward Transport Manager CPC
- Experience with budgeting, planning, or team leadership
