Could you use your skills, experience and passion for education to make a difference to the lives of more than 6,000 students each year? New College Durham is seeking volunteers to join its Board of Governors (Corporation) and help shape the College’s future. As a governor, you will work with fellow board members and senior leaders to provide strategic leadership, support and constructive challenge, helping to ensure the College continues to deliver outstanding opportunities for learners and the communities it serves.
Becoming a governor is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to your local community while developing your own leadership and governance skills. We will work with you to ensure your expertise and interests are well matched to the Board’s needs. You will receive a comprehensive induction, ongoing training, access to an experienced mentor, and reimbursement of reasonable expenses.
Governors are expected to attend six Corporation meetings each year, one or two committee meetings each term, and the College’s annual Strategic Planning Day. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are committed to building a Board that reflects the diversity of our students, staff and communities. We are keen to hear from people who can bring strong transferable skills, diverse perspectives and lived experience of further education.
