Independent Members of the Audit Committee
The Audit Committee has responsibility for monitoring and advising the Council in relation to audit-related matters. It scrutinises audit arrangements, oversees and scrutinises the risk management, internal control, governance and financial reporting arrangements of the University, and satisfies itself that the University has adequate arrangements to promote economy, efficiency and effectiveness. It also alerts the Council on matters of concern, including fraud, mismanagement and malpractice. The Committee is chaired by Kevin Thomas, who has had an extensive career in public sector finance, risk, and change management, supporting public services to improve and transform the quality of people’s lives.
The University of Roehampton is looking for two Audit Committee Members with expertise in cybersecurity, technology, or law.
- Technology / Cybersecurity: Candidates will have extensive digital / technology or cybersecurity expertise to provide guidance and advice to the Committee and wider Council on a range of matters including on digital transformation, AI and cybersecurity. Candidates could have operated as a Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Chief Information Officer (CIO) or Digital Director, for example.
- Legal: Candidates will bring senior legal expertise and will ideally be a qualified lawyer. The University is open to different areas of legal expertise candidates bring and they will advise Roehampton on a range of legal matters.
The University of Roehampton is interested in hearing from individuals who will bring fresh perspectives, and would welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds who will bring constructive challenge to the Audit Committee.
