Cardiff Metropolitan University are seeking new Governors to join their Board, the governing body responsible for determining the strategic direction, and for the finance, property, investments and general business of the University. With 12,500 students enrolled on programmes at their Cardiff campuses, and 18,000 students following programmes through their 12 collaborative global partner institutions across the world, and an annual income of £148 million, this is an exciting time to join their Board. 45% of our students are the first in their immediate family to go to university.

They are looking to make three appointments across the following disciplines:

  • Board Governor or/and Chair of Audit Committee: expertise is sought in finance, accountancy, audit and experience in constructive and effective challenge to executive bodies, and strategic insight.
  • Board Governor: financial planning expertise and potential to be a future Finance Committee chair.
  • Audit Committee Co-opted member: familiarity with the roles of internal and external auditors. Skills required include knowledge within the process of seeking robust assurance on financial, legal and regulatory matters, risk management and systems of internal control.

The time commitment is estimated at 12 days annually; this is an unremunerated position. Governors will have a strong personal commitment to Higher Education and the values, aims, and strategic objectives of the University.
