Job overview:

Canary Wharf College Crossharbour is a small secondary school within a growing Trust. Ambition and opportunity sit at the heart of everything we do, and we aim to ensure that every child receives an education that is both academically rigorous and deeply rooted in values.

If you enjoy working with a sense of real team trust and shared purpose, have ambitions to influence whole school development and are passionate about transforming lives, then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

The Role:

We are seeking a highly ambitious and committed Music teacher to join our Music department. There is a TLR (TLR2 -£3,527) for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate. The successful candidate will contribute to the direction for teaching, learning and assessment in Music.

Our close-knit setting means every student is truly known, creating a family atmosphere where students feel safe, confident, and supported. We currently occupy an interim purpose-built site with excellent facilities. By 2030 we will move into a brand-new building at the Westferry Printworks site, designed to house up to 900 students.

We take pride in our focus upon developing learning through activities outside of the classroom and making use of the opportunities within London’s cultural offer. We have a strong educational ethos ‘To Live, Share and Celebrate a Love of Learning’ and we embed this positive ethos by aligning everything that we do with these key principles:

  • Curriculum at the Centre: we remain ‘obsessed’ with what we teach our students
  • Exemplary Behaviour: we have clear principles informing behaviour and conduct to achieve the highest standards of behaviour for learning
  • Exceptional Teaching: we have a clear pedagogical strategy and support every member of staff to be able to deliver consistently excellent teaching
  • Valuing every child: we work tirelessly to alleviate barriers to individual student achievement

The school is made up of committed and aspirational staff led by visionary and experienced trustees and senior leaders. Staff development is a key priority, and we boast a unique collaborative approach where, through regular meetings, senior leaders support all staff to take ownership for their own development, both by providing high quality guidance and by promoting teachers to read widely, make research-informed decisions, as well as attend tailored CPD.

What We Offer:

  • High expectations
  • Outstanding training and CPD
  • A small school with a close-knit team
  • Support for the most vulnerable students

What are we looking for?

  • Ambitious and committed individuals who want to learn to be the best they can be.
  • Flexible and friendly teachers who add value to a team and support their colleagues.
  • Hardworking staff who give 100% and will go the extra mile to make a difference in students' lives.
  • High expectations and excellent teaching practice and a hunger for feedback.
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to motivate and inspire others.

Safeguarding Notice:

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. Successful candidates will be subject to enhanced DBS checks and other relevant pre-employment checks. Please be aware that an internet search of all candidates is required at the shortlisting phase. By completing an application you are consenting to this taking place.

Canary Wharf College is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates. As a provider of employment and education, we value the diversity of our staff and students, and all our staff are equally valued and respected.
