Research Fellow (Modern Methods of Construction and Housing Delivery) in Nottingham

We are looking for a Research Fellow to support an exciting research project with Thames Freeport. This project will build a robust evidence base and strategic recommendations to accelerate housing delivery and the adoption of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) across a major regeneration area. Working as part of the project team, you will contribute to research design, data collection and analysis, stakeholder engagement, and the development of practical recommendations that inform future investment and policy decisions. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with public, private and industry partners while producing high-quality outputs for both academic and non-academic audiences.

What you’ll be doing:

• Deliver high-quality research using appropriate methodologies and analytical techniques.
• Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops and other qualitative research activities.
• Analyse complex datasets and multiple evidence sources to generate actionable insights.
• Develop analytical frameworks and tools to support evaluation and decision-making.
• Produce reports, presentations and other project outputs.
• Engage with a wide range of stakeholders and support project delivery against agreed milestones.
• Contribute to dissemination activities, including publications and conference outputs where appropriate.

About You:

You will have significant experience working in a research environment and a proven ability to design and deliver robust research and analysis. Strong qualitative research, stakeholder engagement and communication skills are essential, along with experience managing and interpreting complex data and evidence.

You Will Also Have:

• Evidence of research outputs, such as publications or conference presentations.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
• Strong organisational and project management abilities.
• The ability to translate research findings into practical recommendations.
• Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous: housing, construction or the built environment; large-scale regeneration and housing delivery; Modern Methods of Construction (MMC); supply chain or market analysis; or producing implementation-focused outputs for policy and industry stakeholders.

Qualifications:

A PhD (completed or near completion) in a relevant discipline, such as construction management, architecture, the built environment, engineering, or a related field, is required. Applications from candidates with a Master’s degree and substantial relevant industry experience are also welcomed.
