The Directorate of Technology, Estates and Facilities [DTEF] is responsible for ‘providing outstanding work, study, research facilities, and facilities to enhance the student experience, on campus and online’. This role is part of the Cleaning Team within Facilities Services. The Cleaning team ensures our offices and residential buildings are suitably clean and well prepared. The Cleaning Managers are assisted by a group of Supervisors who monitor staff attendance and report verbally on any issues. This role of Senior Cleaning Supervisor bridges the gap between the Managers and Supervisors.
In this role you will assist the Cleaning Managers and to be part of a team responsible for the provision of an efficient and effective cleaning service. You will ensure the highest standards of service and cleanliness throughout the university campus sites and outlying properties and have personal contact with a wide range of colleagues and also students and conference visitors. You will have the ability to communicate effectively with teams of staff, students and conference guests with a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
You must be able to undertake moderate physical and manual handling activities, including moving furniture and carrying equipment.
Whilst regular days and hours of work are specified, these roles also include working at weekends when required. In particular, during vacation periods and ‘clean-down’ periods, the workload can fluctuate. You will be expected to be flexible in the hours you work. You should be able to work additional hours from time to time. Shifts currently available are as listed below but not limited to:
Part time (20 hours per week): 09:30-13:30 Monday to Friday
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed include:
Cleaning experience
Experience of providing an excellent standard of customer service
Supervisory experience
Ability to effectively allocate work and check the work of colleagues, ensuring required service standards and deadlines are met
Working knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel and Email
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe methods of working
Understanding of Health & Safety issues in relation to manual handling and COSHH
A general education to include 5 GCSE passes at Grade C or above, or an equivalent educational qualification, or relevant experience
Evidence of upholding our behaviours as detailed within the accompanying person specification.
