The role is based within the Department of Archaeology at the University of York. The Department is ranked 26th in the world and 5th in the UK in the QS rankings. Its vibrant, diverse and international community consists of over 100 staff and about 600 students. The role will be based at its premises on Campus West.
Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic project administrator to join and provide support for the AHRC-funded ‘MicroPast’ project: Challenging the Preservation Paradigm - The Impact of Microplastics on the Integrity of Archaeological Soils and Sediments. Although based within the Archaeology Department at the University of York, the project is a national study with project partners also at the universities of Hull and Lincoln.
Key Responsibilities
As the administrator for this project, your duties will include: providing operational support to ensure its smooth running; overseeing daily administrative workflows; acting as a central administrative contact point connecting research partners across the three participating institutions; and supporting the project PI in preparing, collating, and organizing formal interim and end-of-project reporting materials, financial/administrative audit documents, and compliance deliverables as required by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
Experience and Qualifications Required
ESSENTIAL

Project management experience involving stakeholders from different institutions and disciplines

Familiarity with University of York admin procedures, or comparable procedures from other HEIs

Budgetting/financial management experience

Experience of project record keeping / funder reporting

Level 3 qualification. (Qualifications at this level include A levels. Please view the full list.) We also welcome applicants with equivalent non-UK qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
DESIRABLE:

A familiarity with science and scientific concepts

Interest in plastics pollution as an environmental challenge
