The International Pathway College (IPC) has some exciting teaching opportunities for suitably qualified and experienced English Language Tutors to join our core team. Our Pre-Sessional courses will be delivered online and on campus in 2025.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate they have the appropriate skills, experience and qualifications for the context of the teaching role they are applying for (online and/or on campus). Your responsibilities will include:
- Teaching lessons
- Monitoring student completion of tasks set
- Conducting academic tutorials
- Administering and marking assessments
- Providing feedback to students
Skills, Experience & Qualification Needed
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent
- Relevant level 5 teaching qualification e.g. Cambridge ESOL CELTA, Trinity Cert TESOL or PGCE in English/modern languages with ELT/TESOL subsidiary
- Knowledge of ELT within the context of English for Academic Purposes and Higher Education
- Knowledge and understanding of technology enhanced learning
- High level of digital literacy and ability to make the best use of IT systems, devices and software applications such as Google Workspace for Education
- Awareness of assessment techniques for writing and speaking skills, and providing effective feedback
- Ability to deliver teaching sessions, and contribute to team-taught course units
- Ability to mark written work, presentations, projects, and examinations with reference to language and study skills, and provide appropriate feedback to students
- Able to supervise student work, provide advice on study skills, and assist with learning problems
- Capable to take on specific administrative activities, paying due regard to detail and timekeeping
- Experience in a relevant area of English Language Teaching including some experience of English for Academic Purposes
- Experience in teaching international students from different cultural and language backgrounds, and familiarity with associated challenges and opportunities
Pre-Sessional programme dates
- Tutor induction: There will be a paid induction at the start of the programme.
- Online Pre-Sessional programme dates:
- Online 6-week Pre-Sessional: Monday 7 July to Friday 22 August 2025 (including an initial Induction week)
- Online 4-week Pre-Sessional: Wednesday 16 July to Friday 22 August 2025 (including an initial three-day Induction)
- On campus 6-week Pre-Sessional: Monday 14 July to Friday 29 August 2025 (including an initial Induction week)
- On campus 4-week Pre-Sessional: Wednesday 30 July to Friday 29 August 2025 (including an initial three-day Induction)
Interview date: This is a rolling recruitment. Interviews will be held online via Zoom with the date to be confirmed. In order to qualify for a position you must be able to work and be based in the UK.
Condition of employment: This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. Consequently, all applicants will be asked to declare both unspent and spent convictions on their application form. Appointment of the successful candidate will be conditional on a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
