Lecturer(Teaching)/Lecturer(SAC) in Psychology (Mental Health)
This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of enthusiastic, dynamic and supportive staff within the School of Health and Wellbeing. The role will involve contributing across our psychology and mental health provision, including our specialist Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner training programme delivered in partnership with NHS England and local NHS Trusts. We particularly welcome applications from candidates seeking to transition into academia from clinical practice.
The successful candidate(s) will have practical experience of working in a mental health setting and hold qualifications in psychology. Training and practice in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is particularly desirable. The post holder(s) will contribute to teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate modules/courses across a range of psychology and mental health topics, including practice focused modules and core BPS subject areas. They will also undertake the role of Personal Academic Tutor (PAT), providing academic and pastoral support to students.
Their teaching approach will be student centred, research based, and practice inspired. As the role will also require the maintenance of productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including NHS colleagues, the successful candidate(s) will need a high level of interpersonal skill. They will have a strong commitment to continuing professional development, and to interprofessional perspectives.
At the University of Worcester, we have a thriving BPS accredited suite of BSc Psychology courses which have run since 1994 and a number of postgraduate courses including Counselling, Business Psychology, Understanding Domestic and Sexual Violence.
The School of Health and Wellbeing comprises three departments: Psychology and Mental Health, Allied Health and Community, Social Justice and Health. Part time and Job Share can be considered for those wishing to maintain some clinical practice.
- Annual incremental increase up to £43,482, with the opportunity to progress to £47,389 subject to performance and the university reward scheme
