Want to turn your interest in technology into a real career? We’re looking for someone who’s curious about tech and ready to take the first step through an IT apprenticeship. You’ll join a friendly, supportive team focused on delivering excellent service, while building real skills, gaining recognised qualifications, and growing your confidence in a professional environment.
You’ll work in a varied, hands‑on role where no two days are the same — from being the first point of contact at the IT Service Desk to supporting audio‑visual technology in learning spaces across the University. We place real importance on resolving issues at the first point of contact, and we’ll provide the training, mentoring, and experience you need to develop strong technical knowledge.
As part of your apprenticeship, you’ll be expected to fully commit to both your role and your learning. This includes attending regular college or training provider sessions (typically one day per week or in blocks), completing coursework, and working towards your qualification alongside your day‑to‑day responsibilities. Good time management and dedication will be key to your success.
You should have:
- A positive attitude and a genuine interest in technology and learning new skills
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of University stakeholders
- A basic understanding of IT (through study, hobbies, or work), such as Windows, MacOS, Microsoft 365, or other software
- The ability to manage your time and balance work responsibilities with apprenticeship study
- A flexible approach to work, including taking part in a scheduled rota during IT Service Desk opening hours (Monday to Friday), with occasional evening and weekend work to support events and open days
This is a great opportunity to start your IT career, gain valuable experience, and develop skills that will set you up for the future — but it does require commitment, motivation, and a willingness to learn. If you are enthusiastic, driven, and ready to invest in your future, we’d love to hear from you. We value diversity and wish to promote equality at all levels.
