Join Worcester Business School as our temporary Business Development Manager (maternity cover). Are you a dynamic and strategic professional with a passion for external engagement and enterprise? Worcester Business School (WBS) at the University of Worcester is seeking a Business Development Manager to provide maternity cover for 12 months, to lead and grow our external business relationships, executive education programmes, and commercial partnerships.

This is a pivotal role within the School, reporting directly to the Head of School and managing a small, dedicated team including a Business Development Officer and a Placements, Internships and Apprenticeships Co-ordinator. You will also work closely with associate staff delivering on executive education programmes such as Help to Grow, the Executive MBA, and the University Diploma in Leadership and Management.

We are looking for someone with a strong track record in developing new business opportunities. You will be confident in building sustainable networks with external organisations, identifying commercial opportunities, and supporting income-generating activities. Your work will directly contribute to the School’s strategic priorities and the University’s commitment to regional impact and employability.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery. You’ll be comfortable working across teams, liaising with central University services, and supporting compliance and quality assurance in business-facing programmes.

This 12-month (maternity cover) post presents an exciting opportunity to support the ongoing development of business education and engagement at Worcester.

What's in it for you?

  • Annual incremental increase up to £43,482, with the opportunity to progress to £47,389
  • Up to 36 days of leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays and University closure days) rising to 41 total days after 5 years’ service
  • Access to a range of benefits including our Staff Retail Benefits Scheme
  • Wellbeing advice and support through our Employee Assistance Programme
  • In-house training and development support
  • A friendly, inclusive and supportive culture and work environment

For further details or an informal discussion about the post, please contact Dr Scott Andrews (Head of School) at s.andrews@worc.ac.uk.

Please note that if not already an employee of the University of Worcester, the appointed candidate will be employed through our subsidiary company Uniworc Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of University of Worcester. Appointees of Uniworc Limited will automatically be enrolled into the Aviva FlexHE defined contribution pension scheme (subject to earnings and other eligibility criteria). This post does not meet the minimum salary requirements for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route.
