We are seeking an exceptional academic leader to join our team as Associate Professor of Interprofessional Education (IPE). This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of collaborative healthcare education and research. You will provide strategic leadership and discipline-specific expertise across interprofessional education, supporting the development and delivery of innovative, employment-focused programmes that prepare students for effective team-based practice. You will champion high-quality IPE initiatives underpinned by research and scholarship, with a particular focus on skills, simulation, and practice learning. Working with external partners, including NHS Trusts, Integrated Care Boards, and the voluntary sector, you will ensure our programmes and research make a real-world impact.
In addition to research leadership, you will make a significant contribution to School leadership, supporting strategic initiatives and mentoring colleagues. You will also play a key role in advancing learning and teaching, ensuring our programmes are engaging, research-informed, and aligned with professional standards.

Job responsibilities
- To provide strategic leadership and discipline-specific expertise across inter-professional education (IPE).
- To lead the development of research aligned to Professional Education through the initiation of collaborative relationships with the Health Professions Education and Practice Research Group.
- To lead and advance research and knowledge exchange activities across the School of Nursing and Midwifery.
- Work in conjunction with others to apply subject knowledge to practice and innovative research.
- Work in partnership with stakeholders drawn from across our Integrated Care Systems to develop excellent research.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of a programme of knowledge exchange which translates research into policy and practice.
- Make a significant contribution to a portfolio of research outputs.
- Supervise doctoral students to successful completion.
- Contribute to maintaining and developing the research infrastructure of their discipline nationally.
- Provide academic leadership and role modelling within and across programme areas.
- Function as line manager for matters relating to the employment of staff.
- Appraise and advise staff on personal and career development plans.
- Lead specified initiatives at School, College or University level.
- Mentor and support colleagues across the school.

Person Specification
- Record of winning research and/or knowledge exchange funding from relevant funders in the field.
- Evidence of having designed IPE experiences that are engaging, challenging and informed by pedagogical scholarship and professional practice.
- Evidence of having applied innovative teaching techniques to create interest and understanding amongst students.
- Evidence of contributing to national policy in the field.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in a relevant field.
- Be a nationally and internationally recognized published author and scholar in the subject discipline.
- Professional registrations with a Professional Statutory Regulatory Body e.g. NMC, HCPC, GMC, GPhC.
Experience
- Experience of doctoral supervision, ideally with experience of supervising to completion.
- Evidence of contributing to disciplinary infrastructure.
- Experience of leading and/or developing innovative programmes in their field.
- Experience of appraising and advising staff on development plans.
- Experience of sitting on a panel for a major funder.
