The University of Worcester is expanding its Welfare & Security Team to support student wellbeing, safety and belonging. This welfare-first role involves offering reassurance, guidance and practical help to students, while also contributing to general campus security.

The Role

  • Respond to welfare and safeguarding concerns
  • Provide calm support during incidents
  • Work with University teams and external agencies
  • Welcome students and promote wellbeing activities
  • Signpost support services and maintain accurate records
  • Assist with routine campus safety tasks

Key Responsibilities

  • First point of contact for welfare and safeguarding issues
  • Support students in distress and refer to appropriate services
  • Liaise with internal teams and partner agencies
  • Respond to on/off-campus incidents
  • Keep accurate reports and follow procedures
  • Contribute to campus safety and inclusion

About You

You’re calm, empathetic and professional, with experience in welfare, safeguarding or support roles. You understand safeguarding principles, communicate well, make sound decisions and can work independently. Training such as First Aid or MHFA may be required. A full UK driving licence and regular on-foot site work are essential.

Please note that this post does not meet the minimum salary requirements for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route. We are therefore unable to consider applicants for this post who will require sponsorship to work in the UK.

Please note that if not already an employee of the University of Worcester, the appointed candidate will be employed through our subsidiary company Uniworc Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of University of Worcester. Appointees of Uniworc Limited will automatically be enrolled into the Aviva FlexHE defined contribution pension scheme (subject to earnings and other eligibility criteria).
