We are seeking to appoint a Medical Education Facilitator for Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and/or Integrated Clinical Methods, to support the ongoing delivery of the graduate entry MBChB programme within the Three Counties Medical School (TCMS) at the University of Worcester. The Schools MBChB curriculum is centred around problem-based learning (PBL) and applied learning (e.g. simulation), with an emphasis on early patient contact and clinical placements. Founded with the aim of widening access to careers in medicine and retaining graduates in the local area, the school opened to students in September 2023.

Applicants will have a keen interest in medical education and training, with good interpersonal skills to support the development of self-directed learners. PBL facilitators will also act as personal academic tutors for the students in their group. Integrated Clinical Methods is a small group method to develop communication and clinical skills, and you will have expertise in developing consultation skills. Working with the lead for PBL or clinical skills, you will be involved in designing and developing cases and support materials for small group work and assessment items.

Ideally, you will already have experience of teaching medical students or similar. However, key to the role is an interest in developing as a medical educator and the ability to work flexibly with the rest of the team to meet the needs of the MBChB curriculum. There are also opportunities for professional development.

We have 2 part-time posts available based at the Severn campus, requiring availability on either both Mondays AND Fridays or Tuesdays AND Thursdays.

What's in it for you?

  • Annual incremental increase up to £55,755 pro rata, with the opportunity to progress to £60,907 pro rata, subject to performance and the university reward scheme
  • 47 days of leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays and University closure days) pro rata
  • Attractive Company Pension Scheme
  • Access to a range of benefits such as our Staff Retail Benefits Scheme, Cycle to Work Scheme and Tusker Car Leasing
  • Wellbeing advice and support through our Employee Assistance Programme
  • In-house training and development support
  • A friendly, inclusive and supportive culture and work environment

Please note that if not already an employee of the University of Worcester, the appointed candidate will be employed through our subsidiary company Uniworc Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Worcester. Appointees of Uniworc Limited will automatically be enrolled into the Aviva FlexHE defined contribution pension scheme (subject to earnings and other eligibility criteria). Please note that this post does not meet the minimum salary requirements for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route. We are therefore unable to consider applicants for this post who will require sponsorship to work in the UK.

We value diversity and wish to promote equality at all levels.
