If you want a job conveniently located close to campus with a flexible schedule and short 4 to 6 hour shifts, then a café assistant position is perfect for you!
- Shift coverage MOST needed between 12:00 - 6:00pm or 8:00 - 11:00pm.
- Hiring for two (2) locations (Sandburg and Cambridge).
- NO SUMMER HOURS AVAILABLE.
Preferred: At least one (1) year of Food Service/Retail Experience but training is provided.

Students can work 7 days/week, up to 25 hours/week (20 hours/week for international students). Unit supervisors work around your class schedule. Café hours are Mon through Fri, 8am-10pm, and Sat and Sun, 9am-7pm. Free transportation to and from Sandburg and Cambridge is provided by the UWM shuttle service.

Café assistants are expected to perform all duties as assigned by the area supervisor.
Daily duties:
- Assist with all phases of food preparation for salads, sandwiches, beverages, entrees, soups, and specialty items.
- Maintain sanitation standards and portion control per supervisor instructions.
- Set up serving stations that include utensils, food, dishes, supplies, and condiments.
- Maintain beverage station dispensers and refill as necessary.
- Replenish condiments and serving utensils.
- Cashiering.
- Dish room.
Requirements:
- Individuals must be UWM students currently enrolled in classes.
- Available to work weekend shifts.
- Responsible and reliable.
- Able to work quickly, accurately, and maintain a pleasant disposition.
- Able to lift 40 lbs. repeatedly.
- Able to stand continuously for a minimum of 4 hours.
- Able to utilize kitchen tools safely.
- Able to maneuver throughout a kitchen environment.
