This post is an exciting opportunity to join the Service Children's Progression Alliance and to support the early development of the SCiP Alliance Impact Centre. The SCiP Alliance is the UK-wide professional community leading national level work helping children from Armed Forces families to thrive. The Alliance works with government, the Ministry of Defence, international research teams, schools, charities, other third sector organisations and welfare services to improve support for Service children.
The growth of the Impact Centre is central to the SCiP Alliance's 2030 strategy, acting as the catalyst for evidence-led decision making through evidence mobilisation, and enhanced data and evaluation practice. To do this, the Impact Centre provides training, support and consultancy on evaluation, data use, and evidence-based practice for organisations working with Service children. Additionally, the Impact Centre conducts novel discovery projects based on the needs of the sector. The overall approach is to provide support based on rigorous and robust research skills to those working in practice.
The Impact Associate role will support the development and day-to-day management of the Impact Centre operations, training and consultancy offer, and project delivery, including a new capacity building programme helping organisations improve their confidence, competence and capacity to be evidence-led. The post holder will be someone with significant research and data expertise who is interested in working with policy, practice, funder, and academic audiences to help make evidence-led change. The candidate will hold a research degree (PhD or similar) and/or have experience of evidence mobilisation in a practical setting. We welcome applicants from diverse methodological expertise who can bring their skills to advance understanding of evaluation data related to the Armed Forces, education, children and young people's services, special educational needs and other relevant fields.
