We are seeking a dynamic and highly experienced professional to take on the pivotal role of Head of Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Quality and Mentor Leadership Team at the Institute of Education, University of Winchester. Founded as a teacher training college in 1840, the University of Winchester is dedicated to providing world-class initial teacher education programmes that empower our student teachers to be autonomous, research-informed practitioners with the knowledge and skills to provide highly inclusive classrooms that bring the very best out of learners. As the Head of ITE Quality and Mentor Leadership Team, you will be responsible for leading and enhancing the quality assurance processes for our ITE programmes and for ensuring our Partnership team, Lead and General Mentors, and Link Tutors provide student teachers with high quality placements and consistently high levels of mentoring support.
We are looking for a highly experienced leader with a proven track record in quality management, leading mentoring teams, and working with school partners. The ideal candidate will have:
- Extensive experience in quality assurance and enhancement within teacher education or higher education
- Expertise in coaching and mentoring
- Strong knowledge of quality requirements and regulatory frameworks related to ITE
- Exceptional organisational and project management skills, with the ability to lead and inspire teams
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- A passion for improving education outcomes and advancing the teaching profession
