The University of West London (UWL) is seeking an experienced pharmacist to serve as Practice Learning Lead in Pharmacy. The role involves working closely with the Head of Pharmacy, the university’s central placements team, course leadership and external practice partners to develop and oversee pharmacy placements and workplace-based learning.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, coordination and quality assurance of pharmacy placements across community, hospital, primary care and other relevant sectors.
- Identify growth opportunities, support placement providers and ensure learning environments meet General Pharmaceutical Council and University expectations.
- Provide support to practice supervisors and tutors, preparing students for professional practice and assisting academic colleagues with complex placement issues.
- Contribute to quality assurance, governance and accreditation readiness, including evidence gathering, site engagement, action planning and continuous improvement of experiential learning.
- Balance operational day‑to‑day leadership with strategic direction to shape the long‑term quality and resilience of the practice learning portfolio.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Registered pharmacist with demonstrable experience in learner support and supervision.
- Proven organisational ability and interpersonal skills to work effectively across institutional and sector boundaries.
- Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field, with a demonstrable track record of research within the field.
- An Enhanced DBS Certificate is required for this post (to be undertaken upon appointment).
- Eligible to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
