Role: Postdoctoral Research Associate – Full time, on‑site, 24 months (FTC) at the Centre for Innovation in Genomics and Microbiome Sciences (CIGMiS), University of West London, St Mary's Road, London, UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct experiments involving microbial genomics, metagenomics and whole genome sequencing.
  • Perform bioinformatics analysis using Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) platforms and other sequencing technologies.
  • Apply machine learning and AI techniques to large‐scale genomic datasets.
  • Prepare and publish manuscripts, presentations and grant reports.
  • Coordinate research projects and support consortium partners from Royal Holloway, Italy, France and Armenia.
  • Provide training and guidance to students and international collaborators.

Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant field (e.g., microbiology, genomics, bioinformatics).
  • Proven experience with Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) sequencing and bioinformatics pipelines.
  • Track record of research in microbiome science, metagenomics, whole genome sequencing, big data analysis, machine learning and AI.

Location & Salary

  • Location: St Mary's Road, London.
  • Salary: £34,576 – £48,944 per annum, commensurate with experience.
