The School
The School of Computing and Engineering is a professional and student focused School with high quality teaching, student experience and research informed teaching at the top of its priority list. The School has strong links with local, national and international partners and employability of graduates is the key to courses that we offer. The Role
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Acoustics to support the development and delivery of new undergraduate and postgraduate courses in this expanding discipline. You will design and teach modules that span theoretical principles and real-world applications, including environmental acoustics, architectural acoustics, and sound engineering.
The post has a strong interdisciplinary focus, and you will collaborate across subject areas such as the Built Environment, Civil Engineering, and Audio Engineering. You will also contribute to research, and industry engagement in areas such as environmental noise, and urban and archaeological acoustics.
This is an opportunity to shape a growing area within a supportive and forward-thinking School, with excellent links to industry and professional industry bodies.
The Person
You will hold (or be close to completing) a PhD in Acoustics or a related field and have experience teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. A track record in research or equivalent industry practice is essential.
You should have expertise in environmental or architectural acoustics, and a clear interest in interdisciplinary work. Strong communication skills, practical lab skills, and the ability to contribute to curriculum development are essential. Experience with course design, industry collaboration, or securing research funding is desirable.
