About the Role

WMG undertakes research projects in trustworthy and responsible artificial intelligence funded by UK Research and Innovation, government, industry, and international funding agencies. The University of Warwick is an Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research, as recognised by EPSRC and NCSC; a particular focus of our work is on Trustworthy AI. The purpose of this role is to undertake research on the assurance, risk assessment, and insurability of AI systems, supporting the development of trustworthy, reliable, and accountable AI technologies across critical sectors such as finance, insurance, and digital services. The role will contribute to the Assurance and Insurance of AI project, in conjunction with Axa, University of Edinburgh and the University of Oxford. The project involves developing AI-native assurance/insurance frameworks, including algorithmic insurance contracts, parametric insurance structures, and data-driven risk quantification methods (e.g., conformal prediction and inverse conformal prediction) to enable insurability of AI systems in real‑world deployments.

About You

We are continuing our search for top‑flight talent to join our diverse department by inviting applications for Research Fellow with expertise in secure cyber systems engineering to join our thriving and growing secure cyber systems research group. This role will give you the opportunity to work on exciting, innovative projects in the Secure Cyber Systems Groups (SCSRG).

PhD Status

If you are near submission of your PhD, or have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made at Research Assistant level, at the highest spinal point of pay grade 5 (£34,610 per annum). Upon receipt of evidence confirming the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow, at the lowest spinal point of grade 6 (£35,608 per annum).
