The School of Modern Languages and Cultures at the University of Warwick invites applications for a 9-month fixed-term position of Teaching Fellow in Hispanic Studies/Spanish, starting on 1 September 2026. We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative colleague with expertise in teaching Spanish as a second language to join our friendly and dynamic department for the academic year 2026-2027. The successful candidate will contribute to the Spanish language programme, support students’ academic development, and play an active role in departmental and School life, including staff meetings, school visits and open days.

About You

  • Proven track record of excellence in Spanish language teaching at higher education level.
  • Native or near-native fluency in both English and Spanish.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Hispanic Studies, Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, or a cognate field.
  • Ability and willingness to develop and support the delivery of the Spanish language programme, confident teaching core aspects of language acquisition (translation, grammar, writing, oral skills).
  • Experience providing personal tutoring and departmental administration in a university setting.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver undergraduate coursework and support the Spanish language curriculum.
  • Supervise and tutor undergraduate students to a high standard.
  • Contribute to the cultural components of Hispanic Studies where appropriate.
  • Participate in departmental and School-level administrative activities.
