Additional Payments: A £2,000 per annum market supplement (pro‑rated and non‑pensionable) is available for the successful applicant on provision of proof of current membership of an approved accounting body and evidence that they hold the appropriate accountancy qualifications.

About The Role: You will be responsible for overseeing key aspects of monthly and quarterly financial reporting within Research Finance, working closely with the Head of Finance (Research) and the Research Finance Managers, and managing a portfolio of high‑priority, externally funded research projects. Your responsibilities will also include developing and enhancing procedures and systems, providing flexible cover for Finance Managers and Senior Research Finance Assistants, managing audits, supervising a small team, and supporting the induction of new staff.

About You: You will be an ambitious and proactive professional with strong communication and organisational skills. With proven experience in a finance environment, you’ll demonstrate sound knowledge of accounting standards and management accounting principles. A recognised CCAB or CIMA professional accountancy qualification is essential. You will bring excellent IT proficiency, including advanced Excel skills, along with a solid understanding of the structure and functionality of large‑scale financial information systems such as SAP. You will also have the capability to manage a diverse portfolio of research projects, applying your expertise to reporting and analysis within a complex and fast‑paced setting.

Work Arrangement: The role is campus based but staff can opt to work under the Finance Office’s current hybrid policy where a maximum of 40% of time (2 days per week for full‑time staff; normally Tuesdays and Fridays) can be worked remotely.
