Join the People team at an exciting time to help shape and influence our newly formed Case Management Team. With the opportunity to work on challenging and meaningful cases you will play a key role in delivering fair, consistent and high-quality outcomes across the institution.
As an Investigating Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering fair, robust and high‑quality investigations that support a consistent and trusted employee relations service across the University. In this role, you will lead a portfolio of complex and sensitive investigations, including staff complaints and grievances, allegations of misconduct, bullying and harassment, discrimination, safeguarding concerns, and other high-risk matters that require formal investigation. You will be responsible for producing clear, balanced and evidence‑based reports that support fair and timely decision‑making.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across People Partnering, Conduct & Resolution, Legal Services and recognised Trade Unions, ensuring investigations are thorough, compliant and aligned with best practice guidance from bodies such as CIPD, UUK and the OIA. A key part of the role will be supporting quality assurance, strengthening investigative capability across the team, and contributing to continuous improvement in our processes, policies and practice.
This position would suit an experienced, confident and resilient employee relations professional, with strong professional judgement and the ability to operate effectively in complex and sensitive situations. You will have excellent communication skills and, whilst often working independently, will bring a collaborative and supportive approach—recognising the importance of consistency and shared practice across a team.
