Base Pay Range

The Flooring Operative is responsible for delivering a high‑quality flooring installation and repair service across the University’s estate. This role involves preparing, installing, and repairing a range of floor coverings—including carpet tiles, laminate, vinyl, engineered wood, and other specialist finishes—ensuring that all works meet the University’s rigorous standards and statutory health and safety regulations. The Flooring Operative will also contribute to the planned preventative maintenance programme and support reactive repair works, thereby enhancing the overall quality and functionality of the building fabric.

About You

The ideal candidate for the flooring operative position is a dedicated and hardworking individual with a passion for hands‑on work. You will respond to individual job requests via the job notification system, ensuring each job is resolved safely, efficiently and to the required standard within target SLAs. The role requires the operative to assess existing floor conditions and identify any necessary remedial work, in close collaboration with the Supervisor and other maintenance team members. Provide a planned flooring and reactive remedial flooring service, assisting other trades where necessary to keep essential facilities open and usable and ensuring compliance with statutory testing and inspections.
