Campus Cleaning Services provides cleaning across 7,076 campus bedrooms, 479 hotel rooms and 65 University buildings. We are looking for a Facilities Assistant to join the Campus Cleaning Services (Residences) team within the Estates Department. The facilities assistant will provide efficient, customer‑focused services within student accommodation, carrying out minor maintenance, periodic compliance checks and other general duties.
- Carry out minor non‑skilled repairs, including unblocking toilets and sinks, replacing shower fittings, resetting refrigerators, Salto battery replacements, and changing lights.
- Clean and maintain building entrance areas, windows, stairways, walls, ceilings, light diffusers and various public areas to a required standard using industrial and standard floor care equipment.
- Work 36.5 hours per week on a rota basis, primarily Mon‑Thu 08:30‑17:00 and Fri 08:30‑16:00, with varying Saturday and Sunday hours as required.
- Drive all types of University fleet vehicles, transporting furniture, materials and staff.
Good team player, excellent customer service skills, and a willingness to support students, staff and visitors. Physically capable of manual handling and a level of physical activity required for the role. Full UK or EU equivalent driving licence held for at least one year, no serious driving convictions, and licence in force. Full UK driving licence essential, as you will be driving University vehicles covered by the University Vehicle Insurance Policy.
The Estates Office oversees campus maintenance and facilities.
