The Communications and Events Officer will shape and deliver the external profile of CenTax, working closely with the Directors, Policy Fellow, and Centre Manager to produce clear, engaging communications that showcase CenTax’s research and strengthen its reputation as a trusted voice in evidence-based tax policy.
- Produce and edit high‑quality written content across a range of formats and channels.
- Plan, promote, deliver, and evaluate a varied and high‑profile events programme, including seminars, workshops, conferences, and roundtables for academic, policy and public audiences.
- Coordinate a seminar series, support major conferences, and lead roundtables for senior policy stakeholders.
- Use website and social media management tools, analytics, and email marketing platforms to monitor impact and improve engagement.
- Lead day‑to‑day communications operations and drive continuous improvement.
Work Location: This role offers flexibility in where you live and how you work. Most in‑person duties will be in London, requiring attendance at LSE at least twice a month, as well as time at the University of Warwick for collaboration with colleagues. The role will occasionally involve work outside standard working hours.
About the Centre: The Centre for the Analysis of Taxation (CenTax) is a joint research centre that generates rigorous quantitative evidence on tax policies, develops targeted reforms, and communicates findings transparently to policy makers, media and civil society stakeholders.
About You: Highly organised, proactive communications professional with a flair for translating complex ideas into clear, engaging content. Excellent written English, a sharp eye for detail, and confidence in editing and quality‑assuring content. Experience planning and delivering events for external audiences, managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including academics, professionals, policymakers and external partners. Digitally confident with experience managing websites (WordPress), social media accounts, analytics, Microsoft Office, Canva, and email marketing platforms such as MailChimp. Confidence leading communications changes and improvements in day‑to‑day operations. Desirable: good understanding of the UK policy and media landscape, monitoring media activity, identifying emerging issues, and escalating when appropriate. High motivation to support impactful, evidence‑based research and ensure it reaches and influences the audiences that matter.
