The Associate Director for Disability & Student Support provides strategic and operational leadership for the University's professional disability services, ensuring high-quality, legally compliant, and inclusive support for disabled students and those with long-term conditions. The role holds institutional accountability for the delivery, assurance, and continuous improvement of reasonable adjustments, championing inclusive practice and driving forward the University's disability and inclusion strategy.

The Associate Director for Disability & Student Support escalates to the Director of Wellbeing & Safeguarding, (or to the Deputy of Wellbeing & Safeguarding when the Director of Wellbeing & Safeguarding is absent) for institutional or systemwide risk.

The Disability & Student Support function leads the University's provision for disabled students and those with long-term conditions, delivering high-quality, legally compliant support and ensuring the timely, consistent implementation of reasonable adjustments across teaching, learning and assessment. It brings together specialist teams covering disability advisory services, neurodiversity, sensory and physical impairments, long-term health conditions, mental health related disabilities, study skills support and student funding, including oversight of Disabled Students Allowance (DSA). The function works closely with academic departments, wellbeing and counselling colleagues, and external partners to resolve complex disability related cases, support inclusive practices, and shape institutional policy.

Led by the Associate Director – Disability & Student Support, and supported by the Service Lead for Disability Services, the Deputy Lead for Disability Services, the Student Funding Support Service Lead and a PA/Administrator, the team drives continuous improvement, innovation and evidence-based practice to create an accessible and equitable student experience.
